Dokpesi

Founder of DAAR Communications Plc and a national chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the party at no time zoned the national chairmanship position to the south-west region of the country.

He made the disclosure on Monday when he led some members of his campaign team to consult with a former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina.

Describing the notion as a miscarriage of information, Dokpesi said the party’s preferences as to the choice of which region produces the next chairman of the party was a family affair that should be devoid of rancour and bitterness.

Dokpesi said: “The truth of the matter is that there was no meeting where the PDP as a party decided that its chairmanship position should be zoned to the South-West.

“The constitution of the PDP unequivocally states that zoning shall take place, but it shall take place in the North, South, East and West. It is cheap propaganda and mischief to state that there had been a zoning to the South-West.

He revealed that the party was currently fighting against impunity as some of its members have taken the laws into their hands by despising the party’s constitution and expressed dismay that such persons were being applauded as heroes.

He further prayed that whoever emerged as the next national chairman of the party should be committed and ready to pilot it through its challenges and return it to power in 2019.

Responding, the former minister said Dokpesi was the right person to steer the ship of the PDP for many reasons which include his high level of integrity, selfless service and commitment to the party.

She promised to galvanise support for Dokpesi’s aspiration to become the next chairman of the party in the interest of the party and the country.
