Dr. Adebayo Akintoba Akintayo is a highly accomplished physician. He has an uncommon passion for excellence in service.

A highly skilled administrator, Adebayo currently works with the Lagos State Government as Chief Medical Officer of Health at the Directorate of Medical Services, Agege Local Government Area.

Born on a Sunday, the 18th day of May in Ibadan, Oyo State, he began his elementary education at St. John’s Mission Primary School in Oke-Oluokun, Ilupeju-Ibadan in 1978.

He obtained his West African School Certificate  in 1987 with distinctions after which he proceeded to the Ibadan Polytechnic where he worked as a Clerk of Works and later as Assistant Project Coordinator under the headship of Engineer (Rotarian) Timothy Ajibade Aladejobi.

He began his basic medical education in 1990 at the University of Ibadan. There, he joined the Rotary Club where he actively participated in the club’s Youth Leadership Awards activities.

Dr. Adebayo Akintayo is also an alumnus of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. He is an active member of numerous professional medical bodies including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical Guild of Nigeria, Association of Medical Officers of Health, Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria and an international member of the American Academy of Family Physicians among others.

He has a diploma in Tropical Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Ireland. He is a past President of the Rotary Club of Ajara.

A Global Peace Index Ambassador of the Institute of Economics and Peace, United States, Dr. Adebayo has also worked as a medical practitioner with the Nigerian Army Corps and the Nigeria Police Medical Services. He also worked on clinical rounds in some hospitals based in the Republic of Ireland.

Dr. Adebayo, who enjoys engaging in social activities is married and blessed with children.

It is in recognition of his accomplishments in Human Medicine and Orthodox Medical Practice that Dr. Adebayo Akintoba Akintayo is deemed worthy of the honour of the Development in Nigeria Merit Award which is part of the 2017 PSR National Awards.
