Engr. Okwudili Charles Okonkwo is a consummate engineer. He is committed, diligent and vastly experienced in various aspects of mechanical engineering as well as steel engineering and construction. What is more! He is a first-rate project manager.

Okwudili has spent close to three decades executing engineering projects on behalf of some of the most formidable and reliable engineering companies in Nigeria. Until very recently, he was the General Manager Operations of Dorman Long Engineering Ltd, Lagos. He is today, the Managing Director of Kamtek Services Ltd, a company he founded, which is located at Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. Kamtek offers a wide range of services including structural steel fabrication, project management, management consultancy and asset management.

Okwudili Charles Okonkwo has in – depth technical knowledge of all aspects of oil and gas facilities construction work. He has the ability to read and interpret engineering concepts, drawings and plans and translate them into a completed project with cost estimates, fully integrating safety, health and environmental considerations into all aspects of the construction phase.

He is fully conversant with construction and pre–commissioning processes and methods, materials, regulations and quality assurance procedures applicable to construction management. His special skills include site construction management, yard fabrication management, constructability reviews and construction risk management.

Born May 12, 1967, Mr. Okwudili Okonkwo is an indigene of Anambra State. He had his university education at the then Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He graduated from that institution in 1988 with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mechanical Engineering (Second Class Upper Division).His first paid employment as an engineer was at Engineering Express Nigeria Limited Enugu where he was engaged as Work Coordinator between 1990 and 1992.

He worked as Shift Engineer with Nigerian Breweries Plc, Iganmu Lagos form 1992 to 1994. His job here involved the supervision of the mechanical repair/maintenance team. He also oversaw the beer bottling plant.

He was at Zamak Nigeria Ltd, Port Harcourt from 1994 to 2000 as Project Manager. His job here entailed the design and fabrication of bakery plants, grain hopper, pipe cladding clamps and fire trap assembly. He also saw to the construction and erection of filling station canopies, roof trusses, water tanks and crude oil tanks.

At Suffolk Petroleum Services Ltd Port Harcourt, he was Construction Superintendent. There he led a team of 45 construction workers to execute Chevron Okan Final Upgrade.

From 2005 to 2008, he was the Project Manager of Cakasa Nigeria Ltd. At Cakasa, he executed a lot of projects which had bearing on the oil and gas industry. They included Snepco EA Gas Lift and Flow Line Upgrade, Total Apapa Tank Farm Upgrade, Platform Petroleum Ltd Umulu Field Development Project and Navgas LPG and Facilities Project Apapa.

As Project Manager at Dorman Long Engineering Ltd which he joined in December 2008, he worked on various assignments such as the DLE Asset Management on Sea Eagle Re-Entry Project, NPDC FPSO Mystras Deck Replating and Lafarge Cement Company Kiln Installation Works.

Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as General Manager Fabrication at Dorman Long. He was Group Operations Manager of the company between January 2015 and January 2017 when he was designated as General Manager, Operations.

Indeed, his is the story of an engineering guru who is also skilled in project and construction management, construction risk management and maintenance management.

It is in recognition of his contribution to national development in the area of Steel Engineering & Construction that Mr. Okwudili Charles Okonkwo is deemed worthy to be conferred with the Development In Nigeria Merit Award which is part of the 2017 PSR National Awards.
