South African hip-hop star, Jabulani Tsambo popularly known as Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) has been confirmed dead.
According to reports, the 38-year-old rapper died on Wednesday afternoon although the cause of his death is yet to be disclosed.
HHP’s death was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen by his wife and popular publicist, Lerato Sengadi.
“Yes, yes it’s true, HHP has passed away and I am very much traumatized. I am with the family at the moment,” Sengadi said.
It was gathered that the rapper had previously spoken out about his battle with depression, leading to multiple suicide attempts in 2015.
The hip-hop star opened up during a 2016 interview that 2015 was a tough year for him. He said he was eager to end his life after he turned to an online suicide assist website to get information about suicide methods.
The rapper said the idea of ending his life first entered his thoughts after a therapy session with a professional left him feeling lethargic due to the medication. HHP further explained that he also felt that his issues were not really resolved.
However, his failed suicide attempts brought about a turning point in his mind. He said it occurred to him then that if he really wanted to die, he needed to live first and do all the things he had always wanted to do and had been scared of doing.
