The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun has been impeached. Oleyelogun was impeached on Friday along with his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Iroju Ogundeji over allegations of gross misconduct.
The impeachment of the principal officers of the House was endorsed by 18 out of the 26 members.
Consequently, Hon. Olamide George (APC) has been sworn in as the new Speaker of the House while Hon. Abimbola Fajolu assumes the position of Deputy Speaker.
Recall that the ousted Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ogundeji was impeached and subsequently reinstated early this year following the intervention of the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
