The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said the Interim Government mooted by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed is the alternative plan of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain in power.

According to a statement issued by the Director, Media and Publicity of the party’s Presidential Campaign Organization, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP described Interim Government as unconstitutional, maintaining that its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would have a landslide victory in next month’s  presidential election.

The party noted that any suggestion of an Interim Government could only come from desperate and unpatriotic minds in a failed administration or a political party that has lost hope of being re-elected in a free, fair and credible election.

The statement read: “Every Nigerian knows the desperation of the APC and the Buhari presidency ahead of the 2019 general election.

“We hope such cruel plot, as revealed by Alhaji Lai Mohammed is not the underlining reason behind the APC administration’s alleged neglect and undermining of our security forces fighting in the fronts.”

The PDP called on the Minister to come clear on the source of his information, adding: “He should tell Nigerians if his source was the police, the military or the Department of State Services (DSS) so that they can appropriately channel their concerns.”

The party further accused the APC-led Federal Government of threatening, intimidating, clamping down on dissenting voices on the opposition and assaulting the nation’s institutions of democracy.

While urging Nigerians to be alert of APC’s alleged plot against the nation, the PDP said it was prepared and ready for the elections as they have been busy touring and campaigning peacefully across the country.
