President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate release of ₦2 billion for the reconstruction of homes destroyed by the recent flood in Mokwa, Niger State. The announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a condolence visit to the affected communities.
Shettima also disclosed that the President has ordered the delivery of 20 trucks of rice to support displaced residents. He reassured victims that Tinubu’s administration is committed to addressing their needs, including the swift repair of damaged bridges in the area.
The flood, which struck on May 28, has so far claimed over 200 lives, with search and recovery operations still ongoing, according to Niger State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmad Suleiman.
