Boko Haram terrorists yesterday evening sacked the village of Kuda in Adamawa State, killing 18 people, mostly women and children who were attending a funeral.
According to a report by Reuters, Boko Haram characteristically burnt down many houses while shooting wildly into everywhere. A resident of Kuda, Moses Kwagh said many women were still missing.
Reuters reports that a police source confirmed the attack although inquiries put across to military authorities did not yield responses. A state legislator, Emmanuel Tsamdu was quoted as saying: “I am yet to get the details on how it happened and the real number of people killed. I have sent hunters to go to the area and get me the details because people are afraid to go to the village.”
Kuda is said to have suffered a similar attack in February. The village is close to the Sambisa forest, the place believed to be the operational headquarters of Boko Haram.
An obviously exasperated Kwagh said: “When we said Boko Haram is still in this place, some people sit in Abuja and claim that there is no Boko Haram. But see what has happened.”
Significantly, recent reports indicate that Boko Haram has launched an FM radio station somewhere on the Nigeria-Cameroon border. Residents of Tolkomari town in the far northern part of Cameroon, according to the Voice of America (VOA), confirmed receiving the signals of the station on 96.8 Frequency Modulation. The radio station broadcasts propaganda material to counter official reports about the war against Boko Haram by Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
