Nigerians Rate Buhari
Mrs. Tope Moshood, Fashion designer
Ha! How will I say it? I don’t feel happy because this nation is not favouring us. The administration is very bad. I have been affected in many ways which include my work and family. Government should intervene promptly. This administration’s change manifest o is not a good one. There is a hike in the prices of essential commodities especially food items. The country needs a better change.
Mrs. Patience Idehen, Trader
It has been very hectic. I have not experienced this kind of hardship before. No significant social and political progress that could better the standard of living of the suffering masses. We don’t know the kind of change the country is going into. Lack of power supply has affected my work. I can’t even use my refrigerator or do any work. Government should do something about power supply.
Mr. Lawani Sabo, Trader
I have suffered and gone through hard time unlike before. The hike in prices of things has adversely affected my trade. I want the government to improve the economy of the nation and absolutely halt Boko Haram menace.
Mr. Anthony Nwagu, Automobile Electrician
The situation is very bad because the country is witnessing a downturn in electricity and without power supply I can’t do my work. Moreso, there is no money but the price of things are very high. No improvement yet for our youth to secure job. Government should improve on electricity and make sure that power is available.
Mr. Adeyinka Lawal, School Teacher
We thank God because we have been witnessing little changes especially in the area of tackling corruption which was not recorded in the previous administrations. The lootings that happened in the past government has put the nation into severe economic hardship. The government should fight against economic recession, empower various sectors of the economy and provide better welfare package for workers.
Miss Taldava Tizhe, Trader
We are not enjoying it at all. My business has gone down because market is not favourable. I had to drop my car and to use public transport because I didn’t have the resources to fuel it any longer. I think all these started as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy. The government should have a re-think on that. If there is availability of fuel, things would be affordable.
Mr. Edwin Ikechukwu, Businessman
Nothing is working in the country and everyone, especially the poor masses are suffering. It has not been easy. My business is not moving and my family is being affected. Perhaps the government is aware of the hard situation of the country, it shouldn’t further hesitate to address it.
Madam Evelyn Ujah, Fashion designer
I have not seen this type of democracy since I was born. There is hike in prices of basic amenities. Life has not been comfortable. There is absolute lack of power supply and things are expensive. It has been very difficult to send school fees to my son who is in a higher institution. Mr. President should fulfill all his campaign promises.
Abraham Oyedele, Student
Buhari’s government lacks adequate and effective plan to meet the nation’s circumstance. Anyway, we are coping with it. All my expectations are not yet met. For example, the promise of the government to change educational system has not been touched; no help for students to gain admission into higher institutions and no university has been built yet and all these were promised during the election campaigns. The government should implement the change manifesto and fulfill all the promises given to Nigerians before the elections.
Mr. Abdulahi A.A., Businessman
I don’t see any problem with the present administration. I want the government to promote peace and guarantee security of all citizens and also, bring down the high cost of commodities.
Mrs. Juliet Ikwu, Business Centre Operator
Nigeria has been in hardship for the past one year. Everyone is complaining. My business has been seriously affected. The high price of materials such as paper, is not business friendly. Inadequate power supply coupled with hike in price of petrol has subjected life to unexpected difficulty. Government should rise to the needs of the country and also create more jobs.
Mr. Afeez Adewale, Businessman
I’m yet to enjoy the dividend of democracy. The present administration’s change programmes have affected the economy of the nation especially in the area of crude oil production. The government should create jobs and empower the youths with capital to establish businesses. Buhari should embark on road construction, guarantee security for all citizens and provide qualitative education at all levels.
Adesola Olawunmi, Mechanical Engineer
It has affected the common man badly. The rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. Government should quickly use the recovered loot to execute capital projects that will benefit the masses. They should also increase the salary of workers and stop the importation of goods and products that can be manufactured locally.
Mr. Abdulateef Ojolowo, Electronics Engineer
Thanks to God for this administration! The loot recovered by this present government was from past administrations. Though the change programme has come with discomfort, with endurance, Nigeria will soar high to a bright and rewarding future. Government should act fast and convert the recovered loot into the well-being of the masses. For instance, if government could improve on power supply then, my business and the economy of the nation would thrive.
Mr. Usman Oloyede, Civil Servant
Everyone knows that the situation in the country is unbearable. We only hope for God’s intervention. We have been affected by the high cost of living especially food items. Yes, this administration has started well but I want all the monies recovered to be utilized wisely. Government should also receive the recessed economy.
Mr. Abdulahi Abubakar, Trader
Kudos to this administration. I hope to see more action against insurgency. There should be more protection of people’s live and property. I want the government to improve standard of living of the citizens.
Mr. Abdulahi Mailafia Muhammed, Trader
Ha! I’m very happy with the government and I have not regretted any of their policies so far. I know that the Nigeria of yesterday compared to that of today cannot be the same. Government should improve on education because without it, people will lack the knowledge of what is right and what is wrong. The emergence of Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and Boko Haram Islamic Sect are resultant effects of lack of qualitative education. How can Nigeria achieve peace and progress if attacks and menace of these groups continue.
Dare Babarinsa, Veteran Journalist
Buhari epitomizes the change we need. He is a decent man of steely resolve, who is now managing the unpredictable temper of a great country. He is passionate to ensure that his country moves into a faster and better orbit of development. He has also shown a capacity to unlearn what he learnt in the past, and has now become an apostle of total deregulation of the oil sector. The voyage ahead may not be smooth but at least there is a more competent captain in charge of the ship.
Yinka Odumakin, Secretary, Afenifere
After one year in office, I have not seen any evidence and I do not think that Buhari has demonstrated what it takes to be a successful president. He has shown no desire or ability to challenge the needs of today and by extension is deplorably failing to persuade our hopes and aspirations for a brighter future.
Mr. Muhammed Abdulahi, Trader
I love this government and I’m enjoying it. We have availability of food and water. It is a big problem that there isn’t much money in circulation. I want government to create more jobs.
