The violent campaign, by Niger Delta Avengers, of blowing up oil pipelines so as to reduce Nigeria’s oil export to zero level appears to have been intensified in the past week.
The group announced on their website this morning that it blew up the Tebedaba – Brass trunk – line which runs through Bayelsa and Rivers States. It also claimed to have blown up Nembe 1, 2 and 3. NDA said it carried out the operations between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.
On Wednesday, the group claimed it bombed three manifolds namely RMP 22, 23 and 24 belonging to Chevron in Delta State. Indeed, NDA has launched over five attacks this week alone after two weeks of what looked like a ceasefire.
Today, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps reported that a pipeline belonging to Agip, a subsidiary of Eni, in Bayelsa State, has been attacked. No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
NSCDC’s spokesman, Desmond Agwu said, “There was a blast on the pipeline and my men were exchanging fire with some of the hoodlums.” The pipeline attack happened at Lasukugbene.
