A flag believed to belong to Boko Haram’s high command was last night handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari as a sign of victory of Nigerian troops over the insurgents.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai presented the flag to the President during the Guards Brigade Regimental Dinner at the Presidential Villa.
At the occasion, Buhari expressed gratitude on behalf of the entire nation to the troops. He particularly thanked Maj. Gen. Leo Irabor, the Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole who has been in charge of the Army’s offensive against Boko Haram.
