At least 35 persons including nine children have been reportedly killed and several others injured after air strikes released “toxic gas” in the province of Idlib in north- western Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said dozens of those affected were civilians who suffered severe respiratory problems.
Syrian medical officials reported that some of the affected had foam coming out of their mouths, a sign they described as that of chemical attacks.
The facilities of most hospitals around the area are reportedly overstretched with casualties of the attack, many of whom were stripped to their underwear and appeared unresponsive.
The nature of the released substance is yet to be ascertained while Syrian authorities say it is unclear who the owner of the planes that carried out the attack were.
