Femi Kuti

Afrobeat crooner, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti on Sunday, effortlessly broke the world record for the longest single note played on a saxophone.

Femi played for a record 46 minutes 38 seconds to erase the 45 minutes 37 second record set by jazz legend, Kenny G in 1997.

He achieved the feat at the Sunday Jump event at  the New African Shrine in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos in the presence of a large audience that included Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the Deputy High Commissioners of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Femi’s sister, Yeni, who was also present at the ground-breaking event, told newsmen after the show that the “Bang Bang Bang” singer will be attempting the feat again in about two weeks time in the presence of the Guinness World Records officials so it can go into the books.
