The Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jens-Peter Kjemprud has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Nigerians over the successful conduct of the 2015 general elections in the country.
Mr. Kjemprud who gave the commendation Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the commission, assured Nigerians that Norway was prepared to do anything to assist it in the delivery of its mandate.
The ambassador also used the opportunity to invite the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu and his team to undertake a study tour of his country and observe the Norwegian parliamentary elections scheduled to hold between the 6th and 13th of September, 2017.
While accepting the invitation, Prof. Yakubu intimated the ambassador that the electoral commission had always been interested in observing elections in older democracies like Norway to enable it learn useful lessons that can be applied in Nigeria
