The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has proposed that corrupt politicians in the country should be held in a prison facility built in the Sambisa Forest.

Magu, who made the statement while speaking during the opening of the anti-graft agency’s office in Kaduna on Thursday said Sambisa Forest, which is the main enclave of the insurgent group, Boko Haram, would be the best place to lock away corrupt people in Nigeria.

“We want to call for the establishment of a prison in Sambisa Forest in order to keep away corrupt people from our midst,” Magu said.

“In this case, the judiciary has direct influence to help in the fight against corruption but concerted efforts are being made by some big Nigerians to neutralize the fight against corruption. We must change the narrative by fighting back those who do not want the fight to succeed,” he added.

Magu has been the acting head of the EFCC under President Muhammdu Buhari owing to the refusal of the Nigerian Senate to confirm him as the substantive chairman after a probe by the Directorate of State Services (DSS) said he could not be trusted with the position.
