A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Mr. Uche Ogah has said he decided to dump the opposition party because the party structure is being operated like that of a cult.
He made the disclosure while speaking to journalists at his Onuaku country home where he publicly announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“PDP is a failed party that operates like a cult that protects only the interests of its members. The way PDP is structured in Abia is like a cult. Cult is not for the masses. Cult protects the interests of its members alone and popularises itself,” Ogah said.
The oil magnate who challenged the election of incumbent governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu up to the Supreme Court, lamented the manner in which the resources meant for the development of the state are being shared among the party members.
He further re-affirmed his commitment to pursing the mandate he lost to Ikpeazu under the platform of the APC in 2019, adding that he strongly believes in the change philosophy of the APC unlike the Abia PDP which has betrayed the confidence reposed in it by the masses.
