The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in the Gombe State House of Assembly by-election for Dukku North Constituency.
The election which was conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, followed the death of Gambo Kabade of the PDP on June 29, 2017.
Announcing the result of the elections which was contested by seven political parties at the Government Girls Secondary School, Malala on Sunday night, the Returning Officer, Mohammed Sa’idu revealed that Saidu Malala of the PDP was elected with 7,060 votes while his closest rival, A. Inuwa of the APC polled 4,022 votes.
He therefore declared Malala the winner of the by-election having scored the highest number of votes and defeated the six other contestants.
Details of the results as announced by Sa’idu showed that ADPN got 31 votes, GPN 29 votes, LP had 29 votes while the Accord Party and Action Alliance got eight votes each.
Sa’idu also revealed that elections at three polling units at Malala ward were cancelled because the total number of votes cast exceeded the total number of accredited voters at that polling station.
