Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have adopted the state’s Deputy Governor, Kolapo Olusola as their preferred candidate for the 2018 gubernatorial elections in the state.
Olusola, a professor of Building Technology from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife was adopted on Wednesday during a meeting attended by councilors, local government chairpersons and members of boards of parastatals, State Executive Council members, the State House of Assembly members as well as serving and former members of the PDP State Working Committee among others.
A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting read: “After due consultation, without prejudice to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), we formally endorse His Excellency, Prof. Kolapo Olusola from Ekiti South Senatorial District, as our preferred aspirant/candidate.
Gboyega Oguntuase, the Ekiti State chairman of the party however said that despite Olusola’s adoption by the stakeholders, other interested party members will be allowed to contest in an open and transparent primary election that will be held in line with the party’s rules and regulations.
