The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday said that Isah Misau, the Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly followed due process in retiring from the Police Force.

While refuting Misau’s allegation that the Inspector General of Police collects bribes before posting and promoting Police Commissioners, the Nigeria Police had last week, through the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood declared Misau a deserter and accused him of forging his retirement letter.

The spokesman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Ikechukwu Ani said the Senator’s retirement letter was based on a recommendation from the police as confirmed by the Justice Olufunlola Adekeye-led probe panel that was set up to check the authentically of Misau’s retirement letter.

“Yes, they called me and I confirmed that the commission issued the letter dated 5th March, 2014 to take effect from 1st December 2010. It was based on a recommendation from Force Headquarters,” Ani said.

“The commission has gone through their document and confirmed that we issued the letter with reference number; PSC/1034/V8/244. What we are simply saying is that we gave him the letter of retirement.

“So, his retirement followed due process. He however did not appear before the committee. But the committee had confirmed that the commission issued the letter,” he added.
