The relationship between Paris Saint Germain (PSG) duo of Edinson Cavani and Neymar continues to deteriorate as the Brazilian has stopped following his team mate on social media, notably Instagram and Twitter.
The fight of egos between the two forwards began to unravel last weekend during the team’s 2 – 0 win over Lyon in Ligue 1, courtesy of two own goals.
During the game, television cameras had captured Cavani and Neymar, the world record signing from Barcelona arguing over who should take a free kick. In the footage, Dani Alves takes the ball from the Uruguayan and hands it over to Neymar, a sign that he is aligned with his fellow countryman.
The same scenario was replicated later on in the match when PSG were awarded a penalty kick. This time, Cavani couldn’t tolerate Neymar’s complaints and took the penalty which he missed.
To confirm the deepening rift, Neymar withdrew his followership of Cavani on Twitter and Instagram after the game and published a photograph of himself with Kylian Mbappe but not with Cavani which had been the custom up until now.
