Northern Nigerian youths under the aegis of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately pronounce Fulani herdsmen as a terrorist group.
The Deputy National President of the AYCF, Comrade Mohammed Kudu Abubakar who made the call while reacting to the incessant killings by the marauding herdsmen across the country noted that the president has kept mum over the issue for a very long time despite calls for him to take proactive action.
While condemning the numerous crimes being perpetrated by the herdsmen, Comrade Abubakar maintained that that by virtue of their heinous acts and activities, the Fulani herdsmen should be viewed as a terrorist group which should be dealt with according to the laws of the country.
His words: “A criminal is a criminal; they are terrorists and have to be dealt with without regarding whether they are from any tribe. The President should follow the constitution and deal with them accordingly. The killing is very criminal and the herdsmen should not go unpunished.”
He called on the Federal Government to constitute a committee to investigate how nomadic herdsmen have metamorphosed into gun-wielding cattle rearers over the years.
He further called on the Nigerian military and other security agencies to commence raids aimed at fishing out and prosecuting any herdsmen moving around with guns to forestall further loss of lives and property.
