US Condemns Abduction of Dapchi School Girls
The spokesperson of the US Department of State, Ms Heather Nauert, at a press conference on Thursday condemned the terror attack which he said the US was still gathering details about.
“We are still trying to get all the details about that but we wanted to mention that we condemn in the strongest possible terms the terror attack on a school earlier this week in north-eastern Nigeria,” Ms Nauert said.
“The choice of targets including schools, markets and places of worship reflect the brutality of terror organizations. The victims in these attacks were girls who were simply seeking an education,” she added.
While extending the condolences of the US government to the students and affected families, Ms Nauert expressed concern that some of the girls were still unaccounted for despite rescue efforts.
She further expressed the United States commitment towards helping the country counter the terrorist group and support the country’s effort towards ensuring that the more than two million displaced people in the Lake Chad region returned home.
