The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State has blacklisted Osogbo High School in Osogbo and withdrawn all Corps members posted to there after several threats and attacks from students of the school believed to be members of a cult group.
The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Attah made the disclosure on Wednesday at the 2018 NYSC/Corps’ Employers’ Workshop held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Attah said the failure of the Principal of the school to provide adequate security and protection for the Corps members was responsible for the withdrawal of the corpers and the consequent blacklisting of the school.
“Employers are expected to provide for the accommodation, welfare and safety needs of Corps members. Those who serve in Osogbo High School were attacked by students suspected to be cultists while the institution was unable to guarantee their safety,” Attah said.
He added: “Hence, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun has blacklisted Osogbo High School due to cultist attacks. We will not post Corps member to the school again unless the school gives us a written guarantee that the lives of the Corps members are safe. The NYSC will not post anybody to anywhere their lives are not safe.”
