Just as the nation is yet to recover from the Offa bank robbery which witnessed the killing of innocent civilians and policemen, daredevil robbers on Thursday raided a first generation bank at Ifaki in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Eyewitness accounts say the robbers struck at about 4pm shortly after the First Bank branch at Ifaki had closed for the day, shooting sporadically and killing a policeman on duty with another sustaining bullet wounds. as people scampered in different directions for safety.
Reports say having failed to gain access into the bank, the robbers riddled the front glass covering of the bank with bullets and ransacked the ATM point located outside the bank, destroying the machine and carting away an unspecified amount of cash in the operation which lasted for about 30 minutes.
When contacted, The Commission of Police in the state, Abdullahi Chafe confirmed the incident but declined to give details as he was in a meeting.
