Scores of placards-carrying youths from Imo State on Tuesday stormed the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja to demand an end to what they called Governor Rochas Okorocha’s hijacking of the state.
Chanting anti-Okorocha songs, the youths accused the governor of plotting to take over the state through his planned imposition of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu as his successor in the 2019 governorship polls in the state.
Leader of the protesters, Igwekala Ugochinyere told newsmen that they were at the secretariat to protest the high-handedness of Governor Okorocha in his handling of affairs of Imo State.
While stressing that the state was not the property or an asset for an individual or family, Ugochinyere disclosed that they had also come to seek liberation from the hands of Okorocha and his family.
He further affirmed that the ward and local government congresses of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state were conducted peacefully and constitutionally as stipulated by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
