President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of ₦10 bilion for the rehabilitation of all communities affected by herdsmen attacks in Benue and other states.
This was disclosed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday when he visited two camps for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State.
According to a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu AKande, Buhari also directed the Vice President to oversee the rehabilitation of the affected communities.
“I am here as a representative of the President who was here in March and had asked that a study be done on the situation.
“Mr. President now wants to do three things: to provide security especially in the affected communities, to ensure that our people can go back to their homes and before then rebuild their homes, and to restore the farms, support traders and ensure the education of the children. Mr. President says I should ensure all these things are done,” the statement said.
“The President has approved some money already to restore places that have been destroyed. A total of ₦10 billion has been approved and we intend to start the rebuilding,” it added.
