A High Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has granted bail to the former governor of Plateau State and a serving senator, Jonah David Jang and another accused person.
Senator Jang is standing trial on a 12-count charge of diverting ₦6.3 billion during his tenure as governor alongside a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Yusuf Pam.
At Thursday’s sitting, the presiding judge, Justice Daniel Longji granted the former governor bail on the following conditions: two sureties in the sum of ₦100 million each, one of who must be a First Class traditional ruler within the jurisdiction.
The second accused person is to produce two sureties with ₦50 million each with one of the sureties being a Permanent Secretary or anyone within that rank as well as submission of his International Passport to court.
