Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the crisis currently rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a normal phenomenon in politics.
In a statement released through his spokesman, Laolu Akande and made available to newsmen on Sunday, Osinbajo assured that the prevailing crises would soon be a thing of the past with the strength and commitment of the party’s leadership.
“In politics, as you know, there will always be tensions. But the party is strong and the leadership and membership of the party are committed towards ensuring that the party remains strong and continues to offer the hope and promise given to the people.
“I think a lot of issues will be resolved as we go along. This is the normal order of things there will be some disagreements; there will be those who might feel that they need certain preferences or certain things which may not have been done earlier on. I don’t think there is any major problem,” Osinbajo said.
There have been dissentions among critical stakeholders in the APC, with a bloc known as the new PDP, which was part of the groups that merged to form the APC ahead of the 2015 election threatening to pull out of the party if their grievances were not addressed.
There have also been dissentions among members at the state and ward levels following the recent conduct of the party’s ward and local government congresses in various states across the federation.
