The United States President, Donald Trump has that his administration will not tolerate the incessant killing and attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria by suspected herdsmen and armed bandits.
Trump issued the warning on Monday while addressing a press conference with his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari after the latter’s historic visit to the White House.
He however praised the efforts of the current government in the fight against terrorism, pledging to provide support in putting a stop to the deadly clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the Middle Belt region of the country..
“We have had very serious problems with Christians who are being murdered in Nigeria, we are going to be working on that problem very very hard because we cannot allow that to happen,” Trump said.
The Middle Belt of Nigeria, a meeting point between the predominantly Muslim North and the predominantly Christian South has been the scene of intense blood-letting carried out by Fulani herders.
