President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday stated that the letter titled, ‘The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition of Nigeria Movement’ written to him by former President Olusegun Obasanjo was rude and therefore needed no reply.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA) in Washington DC, Buhari said rather than replying the letter which he perceived as abusive, he instructed that his government’s reaction should be to tell Nigerians what it had achieved.
His words: “Even when the Minister of Information and Culture wanted to reply that abusive letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, I told him not to. I later allowed him but only to highlight the achievements of our administration.”
In the January 23 “Special Statement,” Obasanjo had accused the President of nepotism, having a poor understanding of current politics and engaging in blame games rather than accepting responsibility for his failure, asking him not to seek re-election in 2019 based on his dismal performance.
