The immediate past governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has formally declared his intention to contest the national chairmanship position of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oshiomhole who made his intention known in Abuja on Thursday is expected to be the main challenger to the incumbent chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, if the latter decides to seek re-election.
The 66-year-old Oshiomhole is largely believed to enjoy the support of President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the backing of a leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
An earlier meeting by state APC chairpersons and leaders of the party in the South-South region had ended in acrimony over who will, among the two former governors of Edo state pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.
