Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says despite the difficulties it was experiencing in getting convictions, the Federal Government will continue to arrest and prosecute suspected looters of the national treasury.
Osinbajo stated this on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo State capital while launching the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)Summit. Osinbajo noted that corruption was fighting back as indicated in the desperation by some politicians to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari was ousted from power.
His words: “We will continue to put them on trial even if they are not thrown into jail yet. We shall continue to arrest those who stole the nation’s money.
“They said we have not been able to convict anybody, we are not bothered, we shall continue to arrest and prosecute them. Let the cases remain in court.
“The corruption is desperately fighting back so that they can come back to power. God will make it impossible.”
He said the clamour for the exit of the current government was spearheaded by those who want to continue to perpetrate corruption in the country.
According to Osinbajo, Nigeria should experience no difficulty moving forward as the current administration had initiated many developmental projects despite earning less than 60 percent of what the previous government earned.
