Former United States President, Bill Clinton has said that the American press treated the immediate past president of the country, Barack Obama differently from other presidents.
Clinton, who was president from 1993 to 2001, made this assertion on CBS’s “Sunday Morning” programme.
Specifically, the 71-year-old Clinton said the “political press” treated Obama better than other presidents before and after him because they liked and treasured having the first African-American president.
His words: “Well, they did treat him differently than other Democrats and Republicans. That was the political press. You know, I don’t know.
”They liked him, and they liked having the first African-American president. And he was a good president, I think. I don’t agree with President Trump’s assessment of his service.”
Trump has regularly knocked the Obama administration and its perceived achievements, recently describing the Iran nuclear deal negotiated under his regime as flawed, horrible, poorly negotiated and “defective at its core”.
President Trump also pulled the United States out of the Paris Climate deal as well as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a massive trade deal Obama worked hard to ensure it came to be.
