A former National Caretaker Committee Chairman and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi says he would not publicly discredit the party after using its platform to attain great positions in the country.

Speaking in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital while on a consultation tour, Makarfi said the PDP made him what he has become today and as such he saw no reason to disappoint it.

“I was nobody working selflessly for PDP in Kaduna when I was made the party flag bearer and subsequently voted as Governor of the state. People accepted me based on my past records of achievement while in the office as Governor, and Senator, as well as acting chairman of the party.

“PDP has done everything for me and I will not strip her naked  in a public or market place. I will not disappoint her,” he said.

Makarfi disclosed that his declaration for the office of  president came after wide consultations and being fully convinced that the nation needs somebody with track records of his calibre.

While noting that he was known with track records of making peace while he was governor, Makarfi said  that Nigerians were living in great tension of insecurity and uncertainty and in dire need of a leader that will salvage her from sorrow and pain.

He added that if elected into office, he would ensure the restoration of peaceful coexistence that the country was known for, by making sure tribal, religious and cultural affiliations do not divide the people.
