The South-West chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday said that plots by the ruling All Progressives Congress to rig Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ekiti State would meet a brick wall.
The National Vice-Chairman of the party in the South-West, Dr. Eddy Olafeso who stated this while addressing newsmen in Lagos said the deployment of the machinery of the Federal Government to the state was meant to hijack power.
“The comment from the APC leadership is the fact that they want to use the federal might to hijack power rather than using the political process.
“PDP is ready and we will confront whatever machinations they put in place and we will say no to what they are attempting to do to our people.
“Ekiti people need our support, Ekiti people need our understanding to know that they have the inalienable right to select whoever they want to be their governor and that the APC government will not want to do that on the blood of our people,” Olafeso said.
He said although there was nothing wrong with providing adequate security for the election, it was worrisome that the security personnel deployed would give an undue advantage to the APC.
