A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sitting in Jabi on Wednesday ordered the Attorney General of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police not to interrogate, harass, invite, arrest or detain the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki over the Offa robbery.
Giving the restraining order, Justice M. A. Nasir, who sat as a vacation judge of the FCT High Court also stopped the AGF and the Police from taking any action on the Senate President pending the hearing of the substantive suit numbered CV/2454/18, which was filed by ten human rights lawyers led by Barrister Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.
The lawyers’ motion is seeking the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the Senate President as guaranteed by section 34,35,36, and 41 of the Nigerian Constitution and articles 2,4,5,6,10 and 12 of the African Charter on Human Rights.
