Following Tuesday’s sack of the Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has vowed that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in the siege on the National Assembly will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Acting President, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo condemned the unauthorized take-over of the National Assembly by operatives of the DSS.
Describing the unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex by the DSS officials as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all acceptable notions of law and order, Osibajo maintained that the unlawful act was carried out without the knowledge of the Presidency.
“By this statement, Professor Osinbajo is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action,” the statement read in part.
Daura has since been replaced by the most senior Director in the DSS, Bayelsa-born Matthew Seiyefa, who has been mandated to take over as the Acting Director General of the intelligence agency by the Acting President.
