No fewer than three people have been reportedly killed and hundreds of others displaced following a heavy rainfall in Yola, the Adamawa State capital on Thursday.
The affected areas include Yolde-Pate in Yola South, Jambutu in Yola North and Loko which is located in Song Local Government Area.
However, while reacting to the development, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Dr. Muhammad Suleiman however said only one person lost his life in the flood.
“One person lost his life while over one hundred people mostly women and children were displaced in the recent flood at Yolde-Pate in Yola South Local Government Area.
“Many people are also affected by the flood in Loko village and Jambutu area in Song and Yola North Local Government Areas of the state,” Suleiman said.
He added that all the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), especially from Yolde-Pate, have been camped at the primary school in the area, adding that the agency has provided relief materials to the victims.
