According to the latest figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the number of eligible registered voters in Nigeria has hit 84.27 million
The Chairman of the electoral body, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, while elaborating on the figures during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners on Thursday also disclosed that the collection of PVCs would continue until one week to the 2019 general elections.
The statistics which were released in Abuja further showed that over 14.55 million voters were registered in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise which began in April 2017 and ended on August 31, 2018.
The new figure of 14, 551,482 registrants brings the new total figure to 84,271,832. The newly registered voters comprise 7,863,917 males and 6,688,214 females.
Prof. Yakubu said within the period of the new registration, 869,406 PVCs were collected with transfer requests put at 769,917 while replacement requests were put at 1,178,793.
