Khalid Al-Makura, the son of the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State has reportedly injured six persons with his car around the Mararaba Ankunza area of Lafia, the state capital.
Khalid was said to be coming from a local Hausa club known as Lancika Hotel when he crashed into six persons due to over-speeding, leading to the amputation of three of the victims.
Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler of the area, Ibrahim Mohammed said the amputated victims were currently receiving treatment at Chida Crescent Hospital, Abuja while about three other persons sustained serious injuries.
According to Mohammed, apart from those whose hands and legs were amputated, other victims who sustained minor injuries were currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, also in Abuja.
He explained that when the accident happened, he was called upon to intervene, because some aggrieved youths in the areas had already gathered, ready to lynch the then unidentified driver.
He said he had to use his power as a monarch to insist that Khalid be taken away by the vigilante guards and handed over to the Police before Governor Tanko Al-Makura ordered that the injured persons be taken to Abuja for urgent treatment.
“In fact, if we were not there, nobody knows what the youths could have done because they were angry and ready for jungle justice as they noticed the driver was drunk,” he added.
