Reigning Wimbledon Table Tennis champion, Angelique Kerber has parted ways with her coach, Wim Fissette.
According to a statement from the player’s entourage on Tuesday, the decision to severe Fissette’s contract was due to irreconcilable differences as regards opinions bordering on Kerber’s future.
“Despite the success of the cooperation since the start of the season, this step is needed because of differences of opinion as the future direction,” the statement read.
Fissette, who joined forces with Kerber in November last year also coached Kim Clijsters between 2009 and 2011, current world number one, Simona Halep in 2014 and Victoria Azarenka between 2015 and 2016).
With the Belgian by her side, the 30-year-old Kerber, who reached No.1 in the rankings in 2016 but now sits third, reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open before going on to win Wimbledon
