The remains of Major General Muhammed Idris Alkali, the retired army general who was declared missing on September 3 have been found in an abandoned well in Plateau state.
The remains of Alkali, who was the immediate past Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army was reportedly found in the well located at Guchwet in Shen District of Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
On Friday, the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division, Rukuba Barracks, B. A. Akinruluyo had told newsmen that soldiers had located a grave where the general was initially buried.
Akinruluyo said some of the suspects arrested in connection with the incident confessed that the body of the deceased general was buried in a place known as ‘No Man’s Land’ located in Dura-Du community.
He further disclosed that those behind the dastardly act later exhumed the corpse and took it to an unknown place.
The leader of Operation Search and Rescue, Brigadier General Umar Mohammed, says a parade will be held for the retired officer who had just retired from the army after 35 years of meritorious service.
Retired Major General Idris Alkali was declared missing since September 3, 2018 on his way from Abuja to Bauchi through Jos. His private car was later discovered in an abandoned mining pond in Dura Du village.
