Mr Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola was this Tuesday inaugurated as the fifth Executive Governor of the Osun State.
The INEC Returning Officer in the state, Prof. Joseph Adeola Afuwape had declared Oyetola winner of the September 27 run-off governorship election after he polled 255,505 votes to defeat his main rival, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 255,023 votes.
The 64-year-old Oyetola officially took over from Mr Rauf Aregbesola after he was sworn-in by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Tuesday.
The Iragbiji-born Oyetola becomes the fifth civilian governor of the state which was created in August 1991. Before him were Isiaka Adeleke who ruled between 1992 and 1993, Bisi Akande (1999 to 2003), Olagunsoye Oyinlola (2003-2010) and Rauf Aregbesola (2010-2018).
In attendance at the inauguration ceremony were Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the APC and Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC.
Among the governors who attended the occasion were Rotimi Akeredolu, (Ondo State), Abiola Ajumobi, (OyoState), Abdullahi, Ganduje (Kano State) and Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos State).
