Nigeria’s soulful singer, Tiwa Savage has emerged the 2018 Best African Act at the MTV European Music Awards held in in Bilbao, Spain on Sunday.

She clinched the award after beating other nominees for the category including fellow Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido. With this achievement, Tiwa becomes the first African female to win the coveted award.

A few weeks ago, Tiwa Savage, who is separated from her husband, Tee Billz went viral on social media after she featured as a video vixen for the romantic music video for ‘Fever’, a song by Nigerian singer, Wizkid.

The MTV EMA is an event which seeks to honour pop artistes around the world.
