Following a request by the Federal Government, the International Police (Interpol) have issued an arrest warrant for Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke.
By this request, all Interpol member countries are obliged to arrest Madueke, who has been holed up in London, United Kingdom for over three years anywhere she is spotted on their territories.
Attached to the extradition request was the November 4, 2018 order for her arrest by Justice Valentine Ashi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
The court had directed the Inspector-General of Police, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Director-General of the State Security Service and all heads of other agencies to arrest Mrs. Madueke.
Justice Ashi had further directed that the order, which was signed by the court registrar, E. Balam, should be attached to a warrant for execution on Madueke.
However, checks on the Interpol website, indicated the former Petroleum Minister had not been listed as wanted. Only the profiles of two male Nigerians, Nathaniel, 53 and Ernest Kenel, 49 were on their wanted list for advance fee frauds.
