At least eight United Nations peacekeepers have been killed and several others wounded in an attack by suspected terrorists in Aguelhoc, which is located in northern Mali.
According to the UN Mission in the country, Sunday’s attack targeted the UN peacekeepers camp in the community which is about 200km north of Mali’s Kidal region towards the border with Algeria.
The nationalities of the peacekeepers were not immediately known but the Aguelhoc camp houses peacekeepers from Chad.
Confirming the assault, eye witnesses and residents said the attackers, whose identities were yet to be ascertained came on motorcycles and cars.
