A former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been confirmed as the new Commissioner of Police in Lagos state.
The outgoing Commissioner of Police in the state, Edgal Imohimi was on Sunday redeployed to the force headquarters in Abuja to head the explosive ordinance unit of the police.
Imohimi, who is said to be an ally of the incumbent governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode was, according to some sources, allegedly removed because he did not provide adequate security for the violent APC campaign flag off rally which was held last week. Other sources however say Imohimi’s redeployment could just be normal procedure which suits the police high command.
Recall that Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo, the treasurer of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was stabbed by someone suspected to be a member of a rival faction of the union of during the rally.
Egbetokun was Tinubu’s CSO for a few years before he became the Commandant of Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos. He was also the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in the state from 2005 to 2007.
