Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State announced on Tuesday that the death toll from the recent attacks in Kajuru District has risen to 130. The governor had announced on Friday that 66 Fulanis were killed by unknown attackers.
El-Rufai made the the new figure known while addressing State House correspondents after attending a security meeting called by President Muhammadu Buhari which was attended by security chiefs and three governors.
He also called those who doubted the authenticity of the story as grossly irresponsible. He said the names will be released to the media.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdulrahman confirmed that eight people have been arrested in connection with the killings.
