Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has reacted to the deployment of Kayode Egbetokun, a former Chief Security Officer to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Tinubu as the Commissioner of Police of Kwara State.
Addressing his supporters during the Peoples Democratic Party’s rally at Balogun Fulani Ward in Ilorin South Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday, Saraki, who is seeking re-election to represent Kwara Central Senatorial District mocked the ruling party over their incessant replacement of police commissioners in the state.
He said: “They (APC) are scared to come and meet our people that is why they are busy changing police commissioners every day but that won’t change our people’s resolve to continue to support us.
“The support we received shows that we are on ground with the people and they are still fully supporting us. Let other parties come and meet our people and see if people will receive them the way they received us.
“We are always with the people unlike them who are usually home during elections to deceive our people. If the APC is popular as they claim let them come home and show their strength just like we did. They cannot intimidate our people with police.”
The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday approved the appointment and deployment of 37 Command Commissioners of Police for the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
