Monday’s presidential rally of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State turned rowdy as some aggrieved supporters threw water bottles and other objects at President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.
Trouble started when President Buhari lifted the hands of the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Mr. Dapo Abiodun for endorsement.
The thugs, suspected to be loyal to Governor Ibikunle Amosun and the gubernatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship in the state, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade booed and threw empty water bottles at Buhari, prompting security officials to quickly form a shield.
This was even as all appeals tp the crowd by Governor Amosun for normalcy proved abortive. While appealing to the crowd, the governor had to beg them not to disgrace him as the father of the nation was there watching them.
It however took the intervention of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to calm down the situation as all pleas by the party chieftains including Oshiomole could not salvage the situation.
The rally which was held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, the state capital was also intermittently interrupted by some protesting members of the party.
